LONG VALLEY, N.J. – Florio Sports LLC has teamed up with National Cal Ripken, Jr., Baseball Hall of Famer, to launch Ripken Power Shred, a new high-quality, protein-rich jerky product made from lean American beef. This product will debut with an initial launch at the 2010 National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) trade show in Atlanta, Ga., set to take place Oct. 5-8.

Sourced and made in the United States, Ripken Power Shred’s original line offers three flavors – original, sweet n’ spicy and teriyaki – and is available in 3-oz. resealable pouches and .75-oz. cans. During the product’s initial launch, Ripken Power Shred can only be purchased on www.ChewJerky.com. It is anticipated that the product will be available in retail outlets by spring 2011.

“We are very excited to partner with Cal and unveil this new style of beef jerky,” said Frank Florio, president and founder of Florio Sports LLC. “Everyone who has tried Power Shred so far really loves the taste and quality, which is much different from other types of jerky products on the market. This is a great game time snack for everyone, and we look forward to the responses and feedback from customers now that it’s available on our Web site.”

Cal Ripken, Jr. is most recognized for having played in a record 2,632 consecutive games during his illustrious career. Through this venture, Ripken Power Shred is supporting the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, the nonprofit that bears the name of the Ripken family patriarch, dedicated to serving at-risk youth and underserved communities throughout the U.S. A portion of the proceeds of all Ripken Power Shred sales will benefit the Ripken Foundation for the next five years.

“I gave Power Shred to my son’s baseball team and they loved it,” Cal Ripken Jr. said. “It is a great source of protein and helps maintain energy levels during workouts and physical activity. With three flavors, it tastes great and is made from a high-quality lean American beef. Give it a try.”

Ripken Power Shred can be purchased online in a six-pack of cans ($10 plus shipping and handling) or pouches ($34.95 plus shipping and handling), as well as cases containing 84 cans ($126 plus shipping and handling) or 24 pouches ($126 plus shipping and handling).
