LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In recognition of KFC’s Original 70 year anniversary, marketing officials are planning a campaign to cook more than 2,000 lbs. in an attempt to set the world record for the largest serving of fried chicken. Pilgrim’s Pride donated the chicken for the record-breaking attempt.

Free samples were available for KFC customers Aug. 17 at its Louisville store located in the Fourth Street Live! area. The company also donated some of the chicken to a local food bank.

“To attempt to bring the world record back to its rightful home, Kentucky, we’ve teamed with Pilgrim’s Pride to cook up a giant bucket of fried chicken worthy of the 70th Anniversary of the Original Recipe,” said Doug Hasselo, chief food innovation officer for KFC.
