KANSAS CITY, MO. — Frozen food manufacturers are debuting elevated offerings that tap into consumer interest in convenient and novel innovations.
Nestle S.A.’s Tombstone brand expanded its portfolio of frozen pizzas with the launch of a french-fry style pizza crust. The gluten-free format includes varieties like loaded bacon cheddar, with a potato crust that is covered in cheddar cheese and topped with a mix of bacon, pork belly, mozzarella cheese and various cheddar cheeses, and chili cheese, with a potato crust covered in hamburger chili cheese sauce and topped with mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, red onion and parsley.
“This new crust is a bold spin on two iconic bar foods — pizza and fries — fueled by what we’re hearing from fans and what’s trending in culture,” said Terry Klein, brand manager for Tombstone.
Farm Rich, a subsidiary of Rich Products Corp., launched several frozen breakfast products. Introductions include sausage stuffed biscuits, a biscuit-style pocket filled with sausage, eggs and cheddar cheese to deliver 12 grams of protein per serving; bacon breakfast roll-ups, featuring eggs, Monterey Jack cheese and bacon wrapped inside of a tortilla with 10 grams of protein per serving; cinnamon French toast sticks with 13 grams of protein per serving; and loaded hash brown bites with 7 grams of protein per serving.
“With our new breakfast lineup, we’re bringing the same deliciousness and convenience people love from Farm Rich frozen snacks into the breakfast space — plus with a powerful boost of protein to fuel the most hectic of days,” said Kelly Rabinowitz, director of marketing for frozen retail brands at Rich Products Corp.
Mason Dixie Foods added to its line of convenient meal solutions with frozen breakfast burritos and chicken sandwiches. The burritos contain 14 to 15 grams of protein per serving and are formulated from cage-free eggs, Monterey Jack cheese, cheddar cheese, skillet potatoes and green chili. Flavors include egg and cheese, chorizo and carnivore, and sausage. The chicken sandwiches come in crispy chicken and spicy chicken biscuit varieties.
“We’re on a mission to clean up the frozen food aisle with better ingredients and great-tasting comfort food,” said Ayeshah Abuelhiga, founder and chief executive officer at Mason Dixie Foods. “We took inspiration from our own restaurant recipes to create delicious, all-natural handhelds made with only real ingredients you’d find in your own kitchen.”
