SMITHFIELD, VA. — Smithfield Foods announced plans to relocate approximately 115 corporate employees to its Virginia’s Tidewater region, where the company’s headquarters is located, by the end of 2025.
“Smithfield Foods is committed to investing and growing the local communities where we live, work and call home,” said Jim Monroe, vice president of corporate affairs for Smithfield Foods. “We’re proud of our roots in Smithfield, Va., since 1936 and look forward to bringing these positions to the Tidewater area to help strengthen the local economy.”
Employees from regional offices in the Midwest — particularly Illinois and Missouri — will soon begin to transition to Smithfield, Va. From this move, Smithfield Foods said it looks to unlock more opportunities for innovation, career development and creativity through increased collaboration.
Those making the transition have positions within finance, procurement, human resources, IT and other support functions.
Smithfield Foods currently employs about 34,000 people in the United States and 2,500 in Mexico.
