WASHINGTON – The US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on June 3, the recall of approximately 15,388 lbs of meat snack products by Springville Meat & Storage Co. Inc., based in Springville, Utah. The heat-treated shelf-stable ready-to-eat products including beef jerky, beef snack sticks as well as elk, venison and buffalo jerky, were recalled because of misbranding and undeclared allergens, specifically anchovies, an allergen that was not included on the products’ label.
FSIS inspectors discovered the issue after observing that a new type of Worcestershire sauce used to produce the products contained anchovies, which was not included on product labels.
No illnesses or allergic reactions have been linked to the consumption of the products, which bear establishment number: "EST. 20528" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were produced between the dates of May 30, 2023 and May 30, 2025, and were shipped to retail outlets nationwide.
