RICHMOND, VA. – Performance Food Group (PFG) Co., announced on May 12 the opening of its new processing plant in West Salem, Wis.
The Grand Western Upper Midwest facility, which was previously known as the La Crosse Meat plant, includes 60,000 square feet of space, three times larger than the previous location.
“This new facility is a game changer for our operations and customers,” said Tyler Zimmerman, general manager of Grand Western Upper Midwest. “The increased capacity and advanced automation allow us to deliver the high-quality products our customers expect — more efficiently than ever before.”
The new facility also features a fully equipped kitchen and training center that allows 20 participants to have ongoing education and hands-on product training.
The company said it sources premium meats from multiple species for brands like Braveheart, Ranahan Ranch, Contigo, Allegiance and Piancone.
“We’re thrilled to bring this level of innovation and scalability to our customers,” said Adam Towns, director of sales for the facility. “This investment ensures we’re ready to meet today’s needs and tomorrow’s growth opportunities while maintaining the exceptional quality our customers rely on.”
PFG offers next-day delivery to eight operating companies and extended distribution on weekly, bi-weekly and monthly schedules.
Last year, PFG broke ground on a new meat processing and packaging facility near St. Louis, Mo.
