FRANKFURT, GERMANY – The best ideas are coming from partnerships within the meat and poultry processing equipment industry as evidenced by the recent collaboration between Multivac Group and Provisur Inc.

The two powerhouse suppliers signed a cooperation agreement at the IFFA 2025 trade show in Frankfurt that allows the companies to offer integrated slicing lines for processing bacon and raw ham products.

The agreement will benefit customers with coordinated line solutions from one source –from slicing through to loading, packaging, and labeling straight into quality control.

“In discussions with our customers, we have identified an urgent need for slicing solutions for natural products in the high-output range, where we currently do not yet have a slicer in our portfolio,” said Christian Traumann, group president of the Mutlivac group. “It is our aspiration to be able to offer our customers high-quality solutions with added value in this market sector as well. To close the gap in our product range in the short term, we have decided on a Cooperation Agreement: In Provisur we have found a partner who has decades of experience in ‘whole muscle’ applications, i.e. bacon and raw ham products, and who has a very well aligned portfolio of slicers in this sector.

“Working together, we can with immediate effect offer our customers very good line solutions in the high-output categories.”

Perhaps they don’t make strange bedfellows, but Multivac and Provisur are competitors in some industry segments, which makes a collaborative initiative between the two companies a delicate operation. After more than a year of ironing out the details, the companies moved forward with the collaboration, and the pieces fell into place.

“It gives us the ability to provide to the processor the absolute best technology from start to finish in the bacon line,” said Matt Malott, president and chief executive officer of Multivac Inc. “We were trying to develop our own slicer, but they’ve done such great work it was silly for either of us to go that way.

“Once we got over the idea of doing it ourselves, it made a lot of sense.”

The companies will focus their engineering strengths on the output capabilities of the lines, especially the weight accuracy and yield of the slicing solutions.

“In our unparalleled desire to push boundaries and provide full line solutions to our customers, we found with Multivac a perfect partner that shares our vision,” said Brian Perkins, president at Provisur. “With Provisur’s complementary product offerings and extreme applications expertise in this sector, we can provide unmatched industry-leading solutions to our customers, effective immediately.

“Provisur and Multivac are embarking on a significant partnership with two industry leading brands. I am excited about the opportunities for the future.”
