MONROE, NC. — An ammonia leak was reported at a Tyson Foods facility in Monroe, NC, on April 15, prompting an emergency evacuation.
The Monroe Fire Hazmat team was called to the scene and was assisted by the Charlotte Fire Department.
In an update on Facebook, the Monroe Fire Department reported the leak had been controlled and was no longer active. An investigation into the cause is currently underway.
While no injuries were reported, “Tyson Foods has some minor repairs to complete,” Monroe Fire said.
Tyson Foods did not respond to a request for comment at the time of publication.
