BRAMPTON, ONTARIO — Family-owned, Canadian company Cardinal Meat Specialists Ltd. is celebrating 100 years of family leadership in the meat industry with a new campaign, “100 Years, 100 Stories,” which highlights the moments, people and partnerships that have shaped its journey.

“For a century, the legacy my grandfather started, known as Cardinal Meats today, has been committed to providing Canadians with premium, high-quality proteins while prioritizing food safety, sustainability and innovation,” said Brent Cator, president and owner of Cardinal Meats. “This milestone is a testament to our dedicated team, valued customers and strong community partnerships.”

The Cator family began its legacy in the meat business in 1925 by establishing a small butcher shop in Bowmanville, Ontario. Since then, the company has expanded to become a leader in the Canadian meat industry. Throughout its lifespan, Cardinal Meats has pioneered advancements in food safety. It became the first North American company to implement sous vide cooking at an industrial level, according to the company.

In 1966, Cardinal Meats was formed, and the Cators expanded their scope from butcher shops across Toronto, Ontario, to a meat processing plant in Mississauga, Ontario. Cardinal Meats has continued to grow and currently operates with 122,000 square feet.

“As we look ahead, our focus remains on innovation, sustainability and strengthening our partnerships with Canadian families, businesses and communities,” Cator said. “We are grateful for the trust and loyalty of our customers and look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence for generations to come.”

Cardinal Meats is inviting customers, employees and community members to share their own Cardinal Meats stories as part of the 100 Years, 100 Stories campaign. Stories can be submitted to the media contact Dina Vieira at dinavcommunications@gmail.com and select submissions will be featured throughout the year.
