RED BUD, ILL. — Small meat processor Miller’s Meat Market suffered a significant fire on April 11.

According to local news reports, two local fire departments responded to the incident. Owners Kevin and Pam Miller were the only ones working and safely left the building without injury.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce Miller’s Meat Market was impacted by a devastating fire yesterday,” the company posted on its Facebook page on April 12. “We are so sorry for the disruption and impact this will have on our valued customers. We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from our wonderful community and extend our sincere thanks to the Red Bud Fire Department and Hecker Fire Department for their swift and courageous response.

Miller’s Meat Market said in its post the extent of damage to its database of suppliers and customers’ contact information was unknown because of damage to its computers.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this challenging time and work to find ways to reconnect with everyone,” the company continued. “We are grateful that everyone is safe. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the calls, texts, food and drinks that were provided, and continued support. We are so thankful to be a part of this amazing community.”

The family-run business was started in 1958 and is a member of the American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP).

“Our thoughts go out to Kevin and Pam Miller and their entire team as they recover from this tragedy,” AAMP said on Facebook. “We know your customers will be anxiously waiting for the day Miller’s opens its doors again.”
