WASHINGTON —  On April 14, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins named dozens of officials appointed to recent roles throughout the agency.

“Agriculture is the backbone of America, and strong leadership at the People’s Department is key to America’s continued success,” Rollins said. “I’m proud to welcome this team of experienced, dedicated professionals to USDA. Together, we’ll work to promote rural prosperity and ensure those who feed and fuel the world can do so without regulatory burdens standing in the way.”

Bill Beam will work as the administrator for the Farm Service Agency. Beam previously served in the first Trump Administration as deputy administrator of Farm Programs for FSA. He owns and operates Beam Farms Inc. and served on various agricultural boards in Pennsylvania and around the country.

Bailey Archer will take over the position of policy advisor in marketing and regulatory programs focusing on the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. She previously served as a legislative assistant to Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, focusing on agriculture.

Kelsey Barnes plans to serve as the senior advisor for rural development, biofuels and research, education and economics. Before taking this position, Barnes worked as director of government affairs at Farm Journal Foundation. She previously worked as chief of staff for the Rural Business Cooperative Service in the USDA.

Trey Forsyth became the chief of staff for food safety at the USDA. Prior to this role, Forsyth works as a professional staff member for the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry under Chairman John Boozman. He also worked as policy advisor to Gregg Doud the chief agriculture negotiator at the Office of the US Trade Representative.

Courtney Knupp will serve as senior advisor to the deputy secretary and senior policy advisor to the secretary for trade and food safety. Before this role, Knupp worked as vice president of international market development at the National Pork Board. She previously worked as chief of staff to the assistant secretary of administration and held several other roles for the USDA in the first Trump Administration.

David Matthews will take on the role of director of state operations for rural development. Matthews previously served in roles at the Food and Nutrition Service, the Farm Service Agency, and as a representative of the White House. He also was appointed by President Trump to the Board for International Food and Agricultural Development, a board dedicated to advising the United States Agency for International Development on agricultural and food security programs in developing countries.
