BEAN STATION, TENN. — The Grainger County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee announced last week that it is investigating 80,000 lbs of beef stolen from a meat facility.

The meat was taken from Southeastern Provision, and local reports stated that two separate 40,000 lb shipments were intended for customers in Kentucky and Michigan.

The company that Southeastern Provision contracted through for their shipments attempted to contact List Trucking Sales, but officials said they did not get a response.

Southeastern Provision was previously in the news in 2018 when it was subject to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid resulting in nearly 100 workers being detained.

After the incident several workers at the plant filed a lawsuit saying law enforcement violated the Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights of individuals working at the facility.

A settlement was eventually reached, which awarded more than $1 million to some of the employees.
