ORLAND, IND. — Poultry processing company Miller Poultry, known for its Amish-raised, antibiotic-free chicken products, announced it acquired Gerber’s Poultry based in Kidron, Ohio, effective Feb. 28, 2025.
The two companies have a long relationship with each other dating back to the early 1980s when Miller became a chick supplier to Gerber’s for more than 10 years. Miller Poultry also processed Gerber’s chickens for six months due to a fire in the late 1990s.
“This acquisition provides both growth and safety for the Miller Poultry family of farm families (primarily Amish families), team members, retailers, and customers,” said Galen Miller, owner of Miller Poultry. “It has been fulfilling to be one of the early pioneers of premium attributes like third-party auditing, air-chilling and humane stunning systems. Now, we get to share those attributes at two locations.”
With the move, Miller Poultry expects to increase its production by 50%, up to six million dressed lbs per week.
Miller added that he looks forward to growing with existing retail customers like Whole Foods, Kroger, Meijer and others.
“Adding a production base in eastern Ohio to our current Northern Indiana operation gives more potential for markets on the Eastern Seaboard, the southeast, and even Florida,” Miller said. “This is a big event as two chicken producers come together in the premium chicken segment of the broiler industry. As a multi-generational family business, we look forward to the future by producing wholesome great-tasting chicken.”
The company confirmed that all current brands offered by Miller Poultry and Gerber’s Poultry will continue.
Current leadership for Miller Poultry includes Galen Miller as owner, Matt Craig as president, and Kevin Diehl as chief operating officer.
