SPRINGDALE, ARK.— Former Tyson Foods Chief Executive Officer (Luther) Wayne Britt passed away, according to an obituary.
Britt began working at the company as a complex controller in 1972.
During the next 28 years he worked in various roles including cost and budget manager, corporate controller, secretary/treasurer, vice president and general manager in the Wholesale Club Division, senior vice president for International Division, executive vice president and chief financial officer, before moving up to the CEO position.
Britt retired in 2000 to pursue other interests.
Some of the board of directors Britt worked on included director for Tyson Foods, National Chicken Council (Executive Committee), United States Poultry and Egg Export Council, Tyson de Mexico S.A.de C.V., Cobb Vantress Pedigree Breeders Inc., Tyson Insurance Company Ltd., among other business areas.
He also served as a strategic, financial, and long-range planning consultant for various companies and an executive in residence for Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas for both undergraduate and MBA classes.
