FORT COLLINS, COLO. — Temple Grandin, PhD, the leading authority on livestock handling and professor of animal science, was recently named one of the 2025 Women of the Year by USA Today.
Grandin, who is a longtime contributing editor to MEAT+POULTRY, was awarded for her expertise on animal welfare and strong advocacy for people with autism.
The media outlet recognized Grandin with 61 other women from across the country inspiring the next generation.
“They are breaking barriers and pushing for change,” USA Today said on its web page. “They are making our communities better.”
In animal welfare, Grandin is known for her livestock handling systems. She has traveled the world consulting with companies that supply some of the highest-profile quick-service chains and foodservice restaurants.
Grandin teaches courses on livestock behavior at Colorado State University and operates Grandin Livestock Handling Systems Inc.
