LEWISBURG, W. VA. — Christy Puffenbarger, vice president of technical services, North America, Aviagen Turkeys, was elected as the 2025 vice chairwoman of the National Turkey Federation (NTF) during the NTF Annual Convention in Scottsdale, Ariz., Feb. 19-22.

Puffenbarger has been with Aviagen Turkeys for 19 years. The company congratulated Puffenbarger on her election.

“We are incredibly proud of Christy and her appointment as vice chairwoman of NTF,” said Jihad Douglas, president and chief executive officer of Aviagen Turkeys. “Her leadership and expertise will be invaluable in guiding the federation’s efforts to support turkey growers and advance industry priorities.”

Throughout Puffenbarger’s career, she has demonstrated a commitment to advancing industry standards, supporting turkey growers and fostering innovation in poultry production. Her leadership at Aviagen Turkeys has been instrumental in providing top-tier technical services and guidance to producers across North America.

In her role with NTF, Puffenbarger will continue her dedication toward the turkey industry. She will play a key role in shaping policies and initiatives that support the industry’s growth and sustainability.

Joining Puffenbarger on the NTF executive committee will be Jay Jandrain, president and chief executive officer of Butterball LLC, who will serve as chairman; Leon Fletcher of Cargill, who will serve as secretary-treasurer; and John Zimmerman of P&J Products, who will move into the role of immediate past chairman.
