WEZEP, THE NETHERLANDS — The Netherlands-based Plukon Food Group announced the acquisition of Spanish poultry producer Grupo Avícola Hidalgo, along with its facilities in Madrid, Valladolid and Toledo. Completion of the transaction is subject to the approval of the competition authorities.

Grupo Avícola Hidalgo has been a family-owned company for over 60 years, establishing a robust presence in Spain’s poultry sector. Since its beginnings as a local distributor, the company has become one of the top poultry companies in the Spanish market.
Grupo Avícola Hidalgo is integrated from hatchery to product sales to clients across channels, particularly modern retail. Currently, the company employs over 400 team members, and in 2024 it generated a revenue slightly above €100 million ($103.6 million). The company specializes in high-quality fresh and value-added poultry products. Its diverse customer base includes retail, business-to-business and foodservice operators in Spain.
Grupo Avícola Hidalgo’s management team, which includes some members of the Hidalgo family, will continue working with Plukon following the acquisition.
