SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Buck Wehrbein will take over as the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s (NCBA) new president, the group announced during CattleCon 2025, held Feb. 4-6 in San Antonio, Texas. Wehrbein’s career spans 45-years in the cattle feeding sector, positioning him well to take up NCBA’s top leadership post.
As president, Wehrbein will lead NCBA in addressing key issues facing farmers and ranchers while fostering the next generation of cattle producers. His focus will include advocating for profit opportunities and leading efforts to help secure tax relief provisions and push back on regulatory overreach.
“The tax issue is critically important for agriculture,” Wehrbein said. “A few years ago, there was talk of doing away with the deduction of expenses, and that would have been devastating. We also have to keep pushing on the Death Tax. With what land values have done, if families are forced to sell or split up land to pay taxes, it would put a lot of people out of business.”
The 2025 NCBA officer team, approved by the NCBA board of directors, took office at the end of this year’s CattleCon. Other officers elected include: Gene Copenhaver of Virginia as president-elect; Kim Brackett of Idaho as vice president; Skye Krebs of Oregon as chair of the NCBA Policy Division; Kenny Rogers of Colorado as policy vice chair; Nancy Jackson of Mississippi as chair of the NCBA Federation Division; Travis Maddock of North Dakota as vice chair of the NCBA Federation Division; and Brad Hastings of Texas as NCBA treasurer.
