ATLANTA, GA. – During the International Poultry Expo, which is part of the 2025 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) held Jan. 28-30, officials with the US Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) announced Clint Rivers as the recipient of its annual Industry Workhorse of the Year award. The president and chief executive officer of Wayne-Sanderson Farms was recognized with this, one of the poultry industry’s top honors for his exemplary track record of dedicated service and leadership to USPOULTRY and the poultry industry.

Outgoing USPOULTRY chair and president, Mikell Fries, of Claxton Poultry Farms presented Rivers with the association’s horse collar to commemorate the award during a ceremony on Jan. 27.

Nath Morris, president of USPOULTRY, said Rivers’ devotion to improving the industry throughout his career in the poultry industry earned him the award and recognition.

“Clint’s unwavering commitment to service and his dedication to helping others have made a significant impact on the industry as well as USPOULTRY,” Morris said.

Rivers, whose background includes 43 years in operations and management with numerous companies, received a degree in animal science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Prior to joining Wayne-Sanderson Farms in 2012, he worked at Perdue Farms and Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., where he served as chief operating officer, president and CEO.

Rivers is a past USPOULTRY board member and is currently on the National Chicken Council’s board of directors, where he also held the role of chairman.

“It is a great honor to present this distinguished award to Clint in recognition of his dedicated service to both the poultry and egg industry and USPOULTRY,” Fries said.
