PAGE COUNTY, VA. — Officials from the Page County Board of Supervisors and the Economic Development Authority will hold a meeting on March 27 to consider approval of a new meat processing facility in the northern Virginia county.
Both groups laid out their proposed plans in a recent feasibility study. The analysis showed that enough cattle would be available from local and regional producers to sustain a plant with a capacity to process between 50 and 100 head of cattle per week.
According to the plans, the 11,729-square-foot plant would include a harvest area, carcass cooler, fabrication area, sales freezer, further processing and retail space. The plan also included office and administration space.
“Many conversations were held with producers and supporting organizations in the county as well as counties surrounding Page County,” the study stated. “A key question of the county was to assess the number of animals that could be processed through the facility.”
The Page County Economic Development Authority identified a site for building the facility in the southern part of the county.
