MUNSTER, IND. – Land O’Frost Inc., a producer of pre-sliced deli meats and specialty meats, announced that Carl Abbott would be retiring from the company after 49 years.

Abbott mainly worked as vice president of procurement and specialty meats while at Land O’Frost. He developed and applied meat industry knowledge by creating supply chain efficiencies that helped fuel growth.

“The past five decades with Land O’Frost have been so rewarding and a joyous experience for me, both personally and professionally,” Abbott said. “I’ve spent 49 years working with some of the hardest working people in the industry, and along the way developed lifelong friendships.”

During his time at Land O’Frost Abbott has been recognized as a leading meat market forecaster. In 2008 he received the Urner Barry Poultry Person of the Year award.

“Carl is part of a core group of leaders that helped Land O’Frost grow and evolve to our position today as one of the top brands in the industry,” said David Van Eekeren, chief executive officer of Land O’Frost. “I wish him all the best in his retirement. I am truly grateful for all of Carl’s contributions to our business and culture throughout his distinguished career.”

Earlier in May 2022, Land O’Frost named Ryan Stone, vice president of procurement, to succeed Abbott.
