TRENTON, NJ. — Goffle Road Poultry Farm, based in Wyckoff, NJ, received $4.2 million from the US Department of Agriculture as part of the more than $223 million grants and loans distributed nationwide to smaller, independent processors.

Owned by Joseph and Brian Silvestri, Goffle Road Poultry Farm plans to use funds from the Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program (MPPEP) to expand its current 15,000-square-foot facility by adding an evisceration room, offices, a lunchroom, lockers, a training facility and a 15,000-square-foot refrigerated extension. In addition, the company will create a satellite pickup and drop-off area for more than 10 area farms within and tangential to New Jersey.

Goffle Road Poultry expects the expansion will amplify processing capacity by 150% by 2026 and increase the company’s share in organic and halal markets.

“This investment in Goffle Road Poultry Farm, a fourth-generation family owned and operated business, represents a critical investment in local food supply infrastructure,” said Jane Asselta, New Jersey rural development state director. “For 96 years, the Silvestri family has served the local and tri-state area helping local farmers and producers process their poultry. Their expansion project will help them increase their business by a projected 300%, build a new stand-alone market, and provide halal poultry to meet a growing market need.
