NEW YORK — Developer of sustainable livestock waste treatment Bion Environmental Technologies Inc. announced that 37-year meat industry veteran Bill Rupp joined its advisory group. He will help launch Bion’s technology platform and production model to maximize impact on the beef industry, the company said.

“We are thrilled to have Bill’s business experience, relationships and industry knowledge to call on for advice and guidance,” said Bill O’Neill, chief executive officer of Bion. “I cannot think of anyone better suited to help us navigate the rollout of our opportunity to the meat industry.”

The past 10 years, Bill has served as president of Cargill Beef, and he has spent a total of 25 years with the company. For five years, he also served as president of JBS Beef, where he led the North American beef business.

“Ten years ago, when I was with JBS, I was introduced to Bion’s technology and decided it wasn’t right for us then,” Rupp said. “They were just early. A lot has changed in the last decade: the renewable energy market, Bion’s technology evolution, and especially today’s consumer, who is increasingly demanding products that are produced transparently and sustainably. I believe Bion’s time has come.”
