CLAREMONT, NH. – In the next six to eight weeks, North Country Smokehouse will change the name of its Fruitwood Smoked Bacon product line to Applewood Smoked Uncured Bacon. Notification for the official effective date of the name change will be Oct. 15, 2022.

The official changes are as follows:

  • Item: #21016 - 12oz Fruitwood Smoked Uncured Bacon will be renamed to
     12oz Applewood Smoked Uncured Bacon.
  • Item: #26003 - 12oz Sugar-Free Fruitwood Smoked Uncured Bacon will be renamed to 12oz Sugar Free Applewood Smoked Uncured Bacon.

Item numbers and recipes will not change. The packaging will also stay the same except for the change from “Fruitwood” being updated to “Applewood” on pack.

North Country launched the product as better-for-you food trends began to emerge and shoppers started opting for all-natural, preservative-free meats. North Country smokes all of their bacon over authentic applewood embers, which is essentially, a Fruitwood – so the change just makes sense, said Mike Kelly, vice president of national sales and business development.

He added, “We are not changing the recipe – it’s exceptional. The packaging is identical so the shoppers who are faithfully adding the product to their cart each week, won’t even notice, and new to brand shoppers might give it a try because they’re familiar with the applewood smoke flavor profile.”
