SÃO PAULO — Brazilian meat processor BRF S.A. announced that Lorival Nogueira Luz Jr., global chief executive officer, gave his letter of resignation to the Board of Directors on Aug. 29. Miguel de Souza Gularte has been appointed to replace Luz.

Gularte will leave his current position as CEO of Marfrig Global Foods S.A. to join BRF.

While BRF and Marfrig showed signs of merging in 2019, the companies remain separate entities.

“This appointment does not represent an intention, at this moment, of merger between the company and Marfrig Global Foods S.A.,” BRF said.

Currently, Marfrig holds approximately a one-third stake in BRF.

BRF works under 30 brands in its portfolio that include Sadia, Perdigão, Qualy, Paty, Dánica and Bocatti. The company runs more than 50 facilities in eight countries including Argentina, Brazil, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
