MANITOBA, CANADA — After partnering with actor, comedian and cookbook author Eric Wareheim in a 30-second brand spot, Greenfield Natural Meat Co., a subsidiary of Maple Leaf Foods Inc., launched a brand campaign with a focus on sustainability and conscious consumption within the meat industry. On July 26, the company began the first-ever Bacon Rebate, where American consumers can get money back for choosing sustainable meat selections.

“More than 95% of the population consumes meat, and we see an opportunity to help conscious carnivores feel good about their choice when they choose Greenfield Natural Meat Co. bacon,” said Kate Beresford, vice president of marketing, Sustainable Meats, Maple Leaf Foods Inc. “We know our audience is constantly inundated with sustainability messaging from brands that don’t always back it up. Greenfield Natural Meat Co. is purpose driven with an ambitious sustainability vision. Through this campaign, we aim to educate our consumer on what the Greenfield brand is all about and to incentivize them to try our products for themselves.”

Greenfield Natural Meat Co. said it is a carbon neutral company, and it plans to further reduce its environmental footprint by 50% by 2025.

Inspired by green rebates, such as money back for energy efficient appliances or eco-friendly cars, Greenfield Natural Meat Co. created a Bacon Rebate through a paid media campaign including OLV, social and digital ads, public relations and influencers.

For every package of Greenfield Natural Meat Co. bacon purchased, Americans can claim their rebate, receiving $2 USD directly into their bank account, while quantities last. To claim the rebate, consumers first buy any Greenfield Natural Meat Co. bacon, then text a photo of the receipt to 811811 using the keyword “BACON” and, after the receipt is validated, they will receive a text with a Venmo deposit link.

The Bacon Rebate offer is only valid between July 18 and Oct. 14 while supplies last. There is a limit of one redemption per person.
