WASHINGTON – Abbotsford, Wis.-based Abbyland Foods Inc. recalled approximately 14,976 lbs of beef sticks on Jan. 8.  The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said the recall was due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The product contained milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.

The smoked beef sticks were produced between Nov. 15 and Nov. 17, 2021. The following products are subject to recall:

  • 2-lb clear plastic packages containing “IOWA SMOKEHOUSE ORIGINAL SMOKED BEEF STICKS” with sell by dates of 11/15/2022 or 11/17/2022 represented on the label.

The recalled products bear establishment number 1633B on the package below the sell by date and were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

The firm discovered the problem after receiving consumer complaints of cheese in the product and reported the event to FSIS.

No confirmed instances of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products have been reported.
