NEWPORT BEACH, CALIF. – Plant-based chorizo has gone from a test to a limited-time offering (LTO) at Chipotle Mexican Grill locations in the United States, according to the company. The LTO follows the positive results of the test done in Denver and Indianapolis this past August.

The plant-based chorizo is formulated using pea protein, chipotle peppers, tomato paste, garlic, smoked paprika and extra virgin olive oil. It is certified vegan and has 16 grams of protein per 4-oz serving.

In conjunction with the roll-out, Chipotle Mexican Grill has added three Lifestyle Bowls featuring the plant-based chorizo to its menu. The bowls include a Whole30 salad bowl with a lettuce blend, plant-based chorizo, tomato salsa, fajita vegetables and guacamole; a vegetarian bowl with lettuce blend, pinto beans, plant-based chorizo, tomato salsa, fajita vegetables and cheese; and a vegan bowl with rice, black beans, plant-based chorizo, corn salsa, tomato salsa and shredded romaine lettuce.
