Size matters, especially when it comes to charcoal chimneys. Many a grillin’ fool has been frustrated by the too-small chimney – a chimney full of charcoal but not enough charcoal to fill the grill. But BBQ Dragon has solved the billowing problem with the “Chimney of Insanity XL.”

Regular charcoal chimneys pale in comparison to the fire-starting behemoth, according to BBQ Dragon. The Chimney of Insanity XL includes a patented “side port” which enables the chimney to accommodate the company’s fan to pull in fresh air as charcoal burns, enabling faster start times.

“The Chimney of Insanity XL is 15% larger than the largest competitor,” said George Prior, BBQ Dragon’s head of product development. “Our regular sized Chimney of Insanity is a great product because of the patented side port, but many, many customers requested a larger size. And we thought that if we were going to make it a little bigger, we may as well make it a lot bigger.”
