FRANKFURT, KY. – Porter Road Butcher Meat Co. announced on July 8 that it opened its new facility in Princeton, Ky.

The new plant will have 28,000 square feet for operations, a major step up from the previous facility of 7,000 square feet. Porter Road initially announced this project in June 2020 and is expected to create 83 jobs in the area. The company currently employs 42 people.

“We have received tremendous support from the City of Princeton and the State of Kentucky as we prepared for the expansion of Porter Road, furthering our commitment to creating even more well-paying jobs for our community and maintaining close proximity to our farmers,” said Chris Carter, Porter Road co-founder and chief executive officer. “This new facility and our increased capabilities will accelerate our mission to build a better food system.”

Expanded packaging and shipping resources along with a larger cutting room will be a few of the features in the new facility.

Porter Road recently received a $10 million through Series A funding earlier in 2021. Executives at the company expect to invest around $12 million into local, pasture-based agriculture in the next 12 months.
