TUCKER, GA. – As more meat and poultry companies make on-the-farm sustainability a priority, including Perdue Farms, Pilgrim’s Pride and Conagra Brands, the US Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) announced it is accepting nominations for its 2022 Family Farm Environmental Excellence Award. With a nomination deadline of Oct. 29, any family-owned poultry or egg producer that supplies a USPOULTRY member company is eligible for the award as are USPOULTRY members who are independent producers. USPOULTRY members, affiliated state poultry associations or a poultry or egg producer that supplies poultry or eggs for a USPOULTRY member is eligible to make up to two nominations in each state where they operate.

According to the association, the annual awards recognize exemplary environmental stewardship by family farmers engaged in poultry and egg production.

“Poultry growers consistently utilize best management practices to enhance environmental stewardship on their farms. The commitment and resourcefulness that our award winners and finalists exhibit each year through their environmental management practices is commendable,” said Greg Hinton, USPOULTRY chairman and vice president of sales with Rose Acre Farms.

Winners of awards will be announced Jan. 25, 2022, during a ceremony at the end of the Animal Agriculture Sustainability Summit. As part of their award, winners receive a trip that covers travel expenses and hotel accommodations for two nights at the International Production & Processing Expo, held Jan. 25-27 in Atlanta, Ga. Each winner will also receive a $1,000 prize and a commemorative award sign highlighting their achievement.
