BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA — Buenos Aires, Argentina is hosting the 18th World Meat Congress Sept. 26-29. Organized by the International Meat Secretariat (I.M.S.), this event is held every two years and attracts producers, packers and processors of beef, sheep and swine, as well as other segments of the meat chain.

This slogan for this year’s event is "Meat for a sustainable world," and will be the central theme of most presentations. Experts from around the world will discuss sustainability and topics related to health and markets. Panels will also be held on topics such as knowing consumer demand and "New protectionism.”

Prior to the Congress, the general meeting of members of the I.M.S. and the meeting of the Committees of Sheep, Beef and Swine will both take place.

The Congress is organized by the Argentine Beef Promotion Institute — I.P.C.V.A. — a public non-governmental institute that was created to improve and strengthen the image of Argentine meat products inside and outside the country.
