WASHINGTON – In an ongoing effort to promote and support family-owned and operated businesses in the meat and poultry processing sector, the North American Meat Institute (NAMI), in partnership with MEAT+POULTRY, is hosting a webinar titled “Family Business Focus: Steadfast Leadership in Constant Change,” on Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. EDT.

The speaker for the webinar is Tom Emigh, a consultant with The Family Business Consulting Group, based in Chicago. Emigh specializes in coaching stakeholders in family businesses with the goal of developing successful multi-generational ownership by using curriculum designed for leadership and succession implementation in a variety of scenarios.

Emigh will cover leadership topics, including decision making, communication and establishing workplace values and culture. His presentation will demonstrate that even in times of crisis, which would include the coronavirus pandemic, maintaining focus on the family business’ core values and behaviors of its representatives ensures the company’s success through the tumultuous times.

According to NAMI, “A strength of family businesses is the ability to be resilient and companies should not lose sight of that strength during times of crisis.”

Registration for the upcoming webinar is free for NAMI members or $49 for non-members.

NAMI and MEAT+POULTRY announced a partnership earlier this year to provide family businesses with information and resources they can use to succeed from one generation to the next. Under the Family Business Focus banner, MEAT+POULTRY has published a series of online and in-print features as well as interviews on the MEAT+POULTRY Podcast, addressing some of the challenges and successes of family businesses.
