SPRINGDALE, ARK. – An overnight fire at a building near a Tyson Foods poultry plant in Nashville, Ark., injured two workers, according to the company. Local news outlets reported the fire occurred in a boiler room adjacent to the plant, where the two employees were working.

Worth Sparkman, a spokesperson for the company, said Tyson officials and firefighters are determining the cause of the fire, which is thought to have started just after 2 a.m. According to Tyson, operations at the plant on July 9 are limited to harvesting and deboning with further processing at the plant temporarily suspended as the investigation continues.

“We’re investigating a fire that happened in part of our Nashville, Ark., plant,” Sparkman said. “Unfortunately, two of our team members have been injured and are receiving medical attention. We appreciate the quick response of local firefighters and first responders, who quickly put the fire out and helped our team members. The fire was limited to a detached building, so the main section of the plant was not impacted.”
