CHICAGO – Ian Borden, currently president of International Developmental Licensed (IDL) markets at McDonald’s Corp., has been elevated to president of international.

In his new role, Borden will be responsible for oversight of all international markets, including International Operated Markets (IOM), which include all of McDonald’s wholly owned markets outside of the United States. He also will be responsible for more than 80 markets in the IDL segment.

Borden has held a variety of roles with McDonald’s over the past 25 years, including president of foundational markets, chief financial officer of the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa segment and managing director.

“Ian has a proven record of focusing on the customer to deliver profitable business growth while strengthening collaboration with our global franchisee community,” said Christopher J. Kempczinski, president and CEO of McDonald’s. “His deep experiences leading McDonald’s in markets across the world uniquely position him to connect the dots to drive strong results.
