OAKWOOD, Ga. – Wayne Farms announced on Nov. 21 that its Global Animal Partnership (GAP) Step 2 rated Naked Truth chicken products will be available in 270 Harris Teeter stores.

Harris Teeter, a Kroger subsidiary, has stores in North and South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia. This will be the fourth major retailer to carry Wayne Farms’ latest chicken brand.

Customers can buy four different products from the Naked Truth line, including Flame Grilled Chicken Breast Fillets, Grilled Chicken Breast Chunks, Waffle Flavored Chicken Bites and Oven Roasted Chicken Wings.

“Retailers have identified a growing number of conscientious consumers who seek animal welfare certified chicken products and are willing to pay more for that certification,” said Tom Bell, vice president of sales prepared foods at Wayne Farms. “With the recent construction of a state-of-the art, controlled-atmosphere stunning system we continue to address consumer concerns with new solutions in enhanced animal care, in addition to honoring our GAP commitments for chickens raised under the Naked Truth Premium Chicken brand.”

Earlier in the week, Wayne Farms unveiled the expansion of its Enterprise, Alabama, poultry processing facility. The upgrades cost $110 million and added 200,000 sq. ft. to the building.

In May, the company announced a partnership with Whole Foods to supply its stores with Naked Truth branded products.
