WASHINGTON – Garden Grove, California-based Cay Thi Queentrees Food USA launched a recall of 43,848 lbs. of poultry products that were imported and distributed in the United States without the benefit of re-inspection, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the US Dept. of Agriculture reported.

The items were imported from Vietnam, which is ineligible to export poultry products to the US. FSIS discovered the problem during in-commerce surveillance activities. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

The affected products were imported on Jan. 2 and Jan. 25 this year. Recalled items include:

  • 454-g packages containing “SLOW-COOKED BLACK CHICKEN GA AC TIEM CORDYCEPS SINENSIS DONG TRUNG HA THAO” with lot code H9007 and a sell-by date Jan/02/2020 or Jan/25/2020.
  • 454-g packages containing “SLOW-COOKED BLACK CHICKEN GA AC TIEM FIVE SPICE NGU V!” with lot code 8324/T8352 and a sell-by date Jan/02/2020 or Jan/25/2020.
  • 454-g packages containing “SLOW-COOKED BLACK CHICKEN GA AC TIEM GINSEN NHAN SAM” with lot code A8328 and a sell-by date Jan/02/2020 or Jan/25/2020.

FSIS said the items were shipped to retail stores in California and sold online and through catalog sales.

Padrino 2

In other recall news, Padrino Foods LLC in Irving, Texas, recalled approximately 1,931 lbs. of beef tamales because the products were misbranded. The tamales are labeled as beef and sirloin, but contain pork, FSIS said. A customer notified the company of the error.

The affected products are 60-oz. packages containing “Padrino foods BEEF & SIRLOIN TAMALES Homestyle in corn husks” with lot code 2128903 and a sell-by date 12-27-19. The tamales, which are fully cooked and shelf stable, were produced on May 8 and bear establishment number “EST. 13136” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The items were sold at retail locations in Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
