GREELEY, Colo. — Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., a unit of JBS SA, announced on Oct. 8 the launch of a new scholarship program, the Tomorrow Fund, which will give company workers and their direct dependents an opportunity to be awarded funds for their education.

Starting in 2020, JBS will award one person representing each of Pilgrim’s 31 facilities across the United States and Puerto Rico, a full scholarship to an institution of their choice. Each person will receive mentorship from someone at Pilgrim’s to guide them in higher education.

“In support of our vision to become the best and most respected company in our industry, creating the opportunity of a better future for our team members, we are establishing the Pilgrim’s Tomorrow Fund,” said Pilgrim’s Global President and CEO Jayson Penn. “We are excited to help realize the dreams of our team and their family members through a free college education.”

Scholarships will cover tuition, fees, books and other associated expenses. The scholarship can be used to pursue a bachelor’s degree, accredited vocational technical certification or an associate degree.

Pilgrims said a corporate committee is responsible for selection of the recipients and their decisions are final. The company also explained that it will make its selections based on financial need.
