AMARILLO, Texas – A Tyson Foods worker at an Amarillo, Texas, beef plant died in an accident on Aug. 2. The incident occurred in the material handling department part of the plant where shipments are received.

The Potter’s Country Sheriff’s Office told KFDA that 34-year-old Warren Jay Slaton was working on the line equipment when he was pinned between several loaded pallets. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

“We’re deeply saddened by the loss of one of our Amarillo team members and our hearts go out to his family,” Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson said. “We’re working with local authorities to investigate what happened and we’ve also notified OSHA. Tyson chaplains are available to provide support to our Amarillo team members.”
