WASHINGTON – Fairmont, Minnesota-based Fairmont Foods Inc. is recalling approximately 35,145 lbs. of ready-to-eat pork and beef gravy products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically clear pliable plastic, according to the US Dept. of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The frozen, ready-to-eat pork and beef gravy items were produced on May 2, 2019.The problem was discovered when the firm contacted FSIS after a consumer found a piece of soft pliable plastic in the product.

The following product is subject to the recall:

  • 45-lb. cases containing nine 5-lb plastic bags of “Popeyes LOUISIANA KITCHEN PORK TASSO AND GROUND BEEF GRAVY” with Product Code 1F0112, Use By: 050220, and a time stamp ranging from 1615 to 0022.

The products subject to the recall bear establishment number “EST. 2WM” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurant locations in Louisiana were shipped the items.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
