EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Beyond Meat Inc. announced on June 26 that its Beyond Beef ground product would be available nationwide starting later in the week.

According to the company, the new product can be used for tacos, meatballs, dumplings, Bolognese or other items made with traditional ground beef.  

“We are thrilled to introduce consumers to our latest product innovation, Beyond Beef,” said Ethan Brown, Beyond Meat founder and CEO. “This plant-based ground meat allows consumers to enjoy all the culinary versatility of ground beef, with the added nutritional and environmental benefits of eating plant-based meat.”

Beyond Beef is formulated using pea, mung bean, and rice protein developed to deliver the texture of beef. The Non-GMO product is made soy and gluten free. According to the company, the Beyond Beef features 25 percent less saturated fat than traditional ground beef.

Beyond Meat makes plant protein alternatives to meatballs, chicken strips and tenders, beef crumbles and burger patties. The company was founded in 2009. Its frozen and fresh plant-based products may be found in more than 32,000 retail and food service outlets nationwide.
