NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Chipotle Mexican Grill announced on May 28 that it will be giving away up to $1 million worth of free burritos until the end of the National Basketball Association’s season.

During the broadcast of the playoff games, anytime an on-air announcer says the word “free” during the coverage of the games, Chipotle will be live tweeting from @chipotletweets a unique code good for the chance for fans to score a free burrito.

"We know that basketball fans are some of the most passionate fans in sports, so we're putting even more, about $1 million more, on the line by 'freeting' through these final games," said Chris Brandt, chief meeting officer of Chipotle. "Chipotle has never been easier to access and with Chipotle delivery, you never have to choose between basketball and burritos again."

According to Chipotle, each mention of the word “free” in the first half of each game results in 500 free burritos being offered to its most responsive Twitter followers. In the second half, each “free” mention results in 1000 burritos.  Viewers and Tweeters will need to be on the offense as the code will only be valid to the first 500 (in the first half) or 1,000 (in the second half) mobile users to text the correct code to 888222. The promotion will be limited to the first 20 on-air mentions of "free" during each game.

Chipotle will also be offering free delivery throughout the series, every day from May 30 to June 9 as well as June 10, June 13 and June 16 if the series continues.
