KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Restaurants are adding textural twists to their new offerings with the addition of crispy, crunchy ingredients.
Tortilla chips add crunch to Taco Bell’s new $1 Loaded Nacho Taco, featuring a soft flour tortilla filled with seasoned beef, nacho cheese sauce, lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese and new Southwest Seasoned Chips. The crunchy red tortilla chips come dusted with a seasoning blend consisting of lime, tomato and garlic.
Cheese crisps elevate the texture of the new Parmesan Caesar Chicken Salad at Wendy’s. It features an Italian three-cheese blend, crunchy Parmesan crisps, grape tomatoes and a grilled chicken filet atop chopped romaine lettuce all topped with creamy Caesar dressing by Marzetti Simply Dressed.
Johnny Rockets is keying in on crunch with three new offerings touting the texture. The new Honey BBQ Crunch Burger features a 100 percent beef burger topped with melted American cheese, applewood smoked bacon, crunchy potato chips, a sweet and smoky honey barbecue sauce, lettuce and tomato. The Loaded Bacon Crunch Chips feature applewood smoked bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, cheese sauce and sour cream on a bed of crunchy potato chips.
The Caramel Crunch Shake with Snickers features vanilla ice cream blended with chopped caramel, chocolate nougat, peanut Snickers candy bar pieces, caramel, chocolate syrup and whole milk all topped with whipped cream, chopped Snickers bar pieces and a caramel and chocolate syrup drizzle.
At Carl’s Jr., crispy onion strings add a layer of crunch to the new Bacon Truffle Angus Burger. The sandwich features a charbroiled 100 percent black angus beef patty topped with white cheddar truffle sauce, two slices of applewood smoked bacon, crispy onion strings, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions and mayonnaise.
