COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Kerri Gehring, Ph.D., a professor in the meat science section of the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M Univ., and co-author of MEAT+POULTRY’s “Meat Perspectives” quarterly column, has been recognized as one of 21 faculty members at the university to be named to its 2018 class of Presidential Impact Fellows. As a member of the class, which includes faculty from A&M’s 16 colleges, two branch campuses and university libraries, Gehring will receive annual stipends of $25,000 for each of the next three fiscal years to be used to advance her teaching, research and service. This is the second annual award of the title, which was announced by Michael K. Young, university president, and Carol Fierke, provost and vice president.

According to the university, the lifetime title of Presidential Impact Fellow is one of the most prestigious awards presented to its faculty members and “helps foster opportunities to dialogue and collaborate with other leading scholars and create new partnerships.”

Gehring, who is also president and CEO of the International HACCP Alliance, earned a bachelor’s degree in food science; a master’s in nutrition and a Ph.D. in nutrition, all from Texas A&M.
