NEW YORK – Blue Apron Holdings Inc. is moving beyond its meal kit subscription service with the announcement of an on-demand delivery program.

The company is testing on-demand delivery of its meal kits in select zip codes in New York City. A rotating selection of Blue Apron meals will be available on-demand to consumers via the GrubHub and Seamless online and mobile platforms. Consumers also can order add-on products, such as Vermont Creamery cheeses, Irving Farm coffee and broths from Brodo.

Two-serving meals available for delivery include:

  • Spicy Beef and Gnocchi with Zucchini
  • Moroccan-Style Couscous Bowls with Chickpeas, Tomatoes, and Feta Cheese
  • Creamy Pesto Cavatelli with Spinach, Zucchini, and Tomatoes
  • Pork Chorizo Burgers with Fig Mayo and Roasted Peppers

Stir-Fried Sweet Chili Chicken with Broccoli and Rice will be available as a four-serving meal.

“This new on-demand product is a complement to our core offering, giving consumers — for the first time — the option to have a Blue Apron meal delivered to their doorstep in less than an hour,” said Brad Dickerson, CEO of Blue Apron. “We are thrilled to launch this initial pilot to expand the reach of our brand and expect to build on this new competency with additional same day, on-demand platforms over the coming months.”
