TULSA, Okla. – Scott Pruitt, Oklahoma's new attorney general, plans to review a pending environmental lawsuit filed against the Arkansas poultry industry when he takes office, according to The Associated Press. He was criticized during the campaign by Democratic nominee Jim Priest for accepting thousands of dollars from poultry-industry employees.

The donations had nothing to do with the lawsuit's review, a Pruitt spokeswoman said.

In 2005, outgoing Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson sued the Arkansas companies, including Tyson Foods Inc. and Cargill Inc. Chicken manure from their facilities polluted the 1-million-acre Illinois River watershed, which straddles Oklahoma and Arkansas, the lawsuit alleges.

Earlier this year testimony ended, but the judge has yet to rule.
