KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As summer heats up, so do the menu items at restaurants around the country.

New from KFC is Pickle Fried Chicken, composed of the chain’s Extra Crispy Chicken coated in a pickle sauce, which features dill and vinegar flavors, onion and garlic notes, buttermilk and a white and black pepper blend. The chicken will be available as a Crispy Colonel Sandwich, Extra Crispy Tenders, Chicken Littles and Extra Crispy chicken for a limited time.

McDonald’s is expanding its Signature Crafted Recipe lineup with the new Bacon Smokehouse Burger. Made with thick-cut applewood smoked bacon, sweet and smoky bacon-onion sauce, crispy fried onion strings, white cheddar cheese and a mild sweet mustard sauce, the burger may be prepared with either a single or double quarter-pound beef patty. Customers may also purchase the Bacon Smokehouse with Buttermilk Crispy Chicken or Artisan Grilled Chicken instead of beef.

Sliders, ribs and wings appetizers are joining the TGI Fridays menu. The new Cheeseburger Sliders feature two beef burgers topped with Fridays sauce, American cheese, roasted onions, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. The Bucket of Bones is a bucket filled with pork ribs basted with whiskey glaze, traditional wings tossed in barbecue sauce and seasoned fries. And the Wings Roulette Platter allows customers to mix and match three boneless or traditional wing flavors.
