WASHINGTON – Tyson Foods Inc. recalled approximately 3,120 lbs. of frozen breaded chicken products on concerns the items may be contaminated by blue and clear soft plastic, according to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the US Dept. of Agriculture.

The problem was discovered on June 8, when Tyson notified FSIS that the company’s breading supplier was recalling ingredients due to possible foreign material contamination.

FSIS said the affected uncooked and breaded chicken tenderloins were produced on May 17, 2018 and include 12-lb. box containing 3-lb. plastic bags of “UNCOOKED, BREADED, ORIGINAL CHICKEN TENDERLOINS,” with a lot code of 1378NLR02.

The affected products bear establishment number “P-746” on the product package. FSIS said the items were shipped to foodservice establishments nationwide. The items are not available for purchase in retail stores, the agency noted.

FSIS said that some product may be frozen and in freezers at foodservice institutions and could be served. The agency is urging foodservice institutions that have purchased the affected not to serve them. The products should be thrown away.
