WASHINGTON — The Grocery Manufacturers Association has named three new members to its board of directors. Steven A Cahillane, chairman and CEO of Kellogg Co.; Bobby J. Chacko, president and CEO of Ocean Spray Cranberries; and Paul D. Chibe, president and CEO of Ferrero North America, were elected at the trade association’s spring board meeting.

“We’re thrilled to bring Steven, Bobby and Paul on to the board,” said Chris Policinski, chairman of the GMA board and president and CEO of Land O’Lakes, Inc. “All three are recognized industry leaders with decades of experience, and their depth of knowledge on consumer trends will prove invaluable as GMA works to meet the rapidly evolving needs of 21st century food, beverage and consumer products companies, and of consumers across the country.”

Prior to joining Kellogg in October 2017, Cahillane was president and CEO at Nature’s Bounty Co. and previously spent seven years at the Coca-Cola Co. and eight years at AB InBev.

Chacko, a 20-year veteran of the consumer packaged goods industry, joined Ocean Spray Cranberries in 2017 and previously worked at Mars Drinks, Coca-Cola, AB InBev and GE Capital.

As head of Ferrero North America, Chibe is responsible for the company’s US, Canada and Caribbean businesses. Previously, he was US chief marketing officer at AB InBev. Earlier in his career, he held various roles at Mars Wrigley, Quaker Oats Co., and Leaf, Inc., now owned by the Hershey Co.

The GMA is in the process of redefining itself in the wake of losing some of its largest members, including Cargill, Nestle, Tyson Foods, Campbell Soup Co., Dean Foods, Unilever, Mars, Inc. and the Kraft Heinz Co. In February, president and CECO Pamela G. Bailey announced plans to retire from the organization after nearly a decade. She said a new leader will help steer the group into a new era.
