WASHINGTON – According to the National Chicken Council, the US Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service bought 10,792,000 lbs. of chicken and chicken products at an approximate cost of $7,801,000 for school-lunch and other domestic food nutrition assistance programs. No offers were received for oven-roasted chicken.

On Nov. 22, invitation number 13 will be issued for cut-up, oven-roasted, bulk back (small, large and legs). Acceptances will be announced by Nov. 26 for delivery from Jan. 16-31.


AMS also bought 1,560,000 lbs. of chicken fajita strips for approximately $3,052,479 for school-lunch and other domestic food nutrition assistance programs. Invitation number 11 for chicken fajita strips is set to be issued on Nov. 22. Acceptances will be announced by Nov. 26 for delivery from January 16-31.
